Patients and Clinicians Satisfaction

Participants with chronic stroke describe this VR gaming as motivating and experience a positive feeling of flow that prompt them to move their upper limbs more during the sessions. They also describe perceived improvements in their everyday life activities. The patients explain being focused on achieving rewards within the game. Being able to see one’s progress is rewarding and motivating, and reaching the next level in the game creates a feeling of accomplishment. The system has been modelled so that the physical presence of a therapist is not necessarily required during the course of the sessions and there is no need to wear any kind of sensor. Another positive point is that in every game-playing session, the physiotherapist evaluates the participant’s performance either in person or remotely. The high satisfaction rate of patients and the clinicians of our specific VR game based rehabilitation indicates the motivational nature and efficacy of such therapy, respectively.
