The direct feedback from the game of “balls & clock”, in the form of points and levels achieved, is an important feature that motivates the participants. Being able to see one’s progress is rewarding and motivating, and reaching the next level in the game created a feeling of accomplishment. Importantly, this gamification of rehabilitation may increase motivation, adherence, and training dose among patients. It is crucial not to underestimate the importance of finding rehabilitation methods that are motivating and fun, especially as patients will need rehabilitation and training for many years after stroke. Motivation is a key aspect of any training application.
