Modified Ashworth Scale

About 30 percent of stroke survivors will experience some form of muscle spasticity, more commonly formed in the upper limbs. Some people experience spasticity immediately after their stroke, but it can start at any time. The modified Ashworth scale is a muscle tone assessment scale and one quick and easy way to measure spasticity rehabilitation (physical and occupational therapy) and pharmacological spasticity treatments are considered to work over time. Our product as a virtual reality game-based rehabilitation which has been developed exclusively for post stroke patients showed a relatively large effect size for the reduction of spasticity, the improvement of passive function and preventing contracture. By using Modified Ashworth scale showed significant decrease in elbow and wrist spasticity after 6 weeks.
