Case Presentation #6

A 54 year old woman is taken to the hospital with right hemiparesia and mild speech impairment(dysarthria) started three hours before presentation. Her past medical history was unremarkable except for chronic uncontrolled renovascular hypertension. The final diagnosis based on physical exam and brain CT scan was left ischemic stroke in the territory of middle cerebral artery .After discharge she was introduced to the outpatient physiotherapy clinic where combination therapy program (conventional rehabilitation combined with virtual reality rehabilitation) was planned for her. This program included Recovery Tech VR game based rehabilitation to improve motor function in affected upper extremity.After six weeks of VR therapy Brunnstorm assessment showed improved movement and considerable recovery so that she was able to do ADL and household chores independently.
