Case Presentation #21

The patient is a 59 year old man who while eating breakfast experienced sudden onset slurring of speech, had facial droop on his left hand side with weakness in left side upper and lower extremities. His wife immediately called for an ambulance, which arrived within 10 mins. Brain CT showed hyper density in the Right Middle Cerebral Artery, compatible with diagnosis of Acute Ischemic Stroke secondary to occlusion of Rt MCA. After discharge from hospital, he was referred to the physical therapist to receive physiotherapy for his hemiparesis. After eight weeks VR rehabilitation(three times a week) with Recovery Tech serious game named 'The clock and balls' his motor function improved significantly and his face appearance returned to normal as well. After that he returned to almost normal life and was able to do activities of daily life independently.
