A 58 year old man experienced a right basal ganglia stroke. Stroke in this area can affect a person’s ability to balance and their coordination for mobility tasks in left extremities. Physical therapy for him focused on balance re-education and improving motor function in the limbs. VR rehabilitation by Recovery Tech interactive game was planned as well in order to foster his recovery and return to independence. After nine weeks of virtual reality in addition to conventional rehabilitation, increased muscle strength and reduced muscle fatigue led to a significant improvement in functional ability of his left upper extremity.
