Brunnstrom Approach

Muscular weakness or partial paralysis restricted to one side of the body is an impairment present in 88% of the stroke patients. Rehabilitation training is the most effective way to reduce motor impairments in stroke patients. The Brunnstrom Approach sets out a sequence of stages of recovery from hemiplegia after a stroke. The synergic pattern of movement develops during recovery. This approach encourages development of flexor and extensor synergies during early recovery, with the intention that synergic activation of muscles will, with training, transition into voluntary activation of movements. Our VR rehabilitation games were designed and developed by our technical team. We assumed that the unique characteristics of this technology could be used as an impressive tool for improving upper limb function in patients with stroke. After six weeks using this serious game, assessment by brunnstorm scale showed significant improvement in motor function in post stroke Patients.
